Manchester United successfully defended their league crown, a 2-0 defeat over Wigan claiming their tenth Premier League title. In the tensest finish to the league for years focus was on United knowing that victory at the JJB Stadium in Wigan would prevent Chelsea from winning the title, and their players duly obliged.
