Diego Maradona signed for Barcelona after the 1982 World Cup Finals for a then, world record fee. Considered the best footballer in the world at that time, Maradona, known as 'El Pelusa’, suffered serious injury and hepatitis, which meant he played in just 36 La Liga games, in which he scored 22 goals, before his move to Napoli in 1984. With Barcelona, Maradona won the Copa del Rey and Spanish League Cup in 1982-83 and the Spanish Super Cup in 1983 too.
