HISTORY

1886

130 years ago, Emidio Lazzarini’s grandfather founded the workshop in Ascoli Piceno, Italy. Emidio’s father would later teach him how to make shoes.

1940s

After the Second World War, Emidio specialises in producing softer, more comfortable shoes for fellow wrestlers.

1950

Using soft calf leather instead of traditional tough hide material, Emidio supplied local football team Ascoli Calcio with new boots.

1959

Juventus striker John Charles famously proclaims during a fitting, "these aren’t boots, they’re slippers. Golden slippers."

1959

Without realising it, Charles had inadvertently christened the brand Pantofola d’Oro, which translates to golden slipper in Italian.

1960s

When the brand was re-launched in the 1960s, 4 and 5-Star hotels did not exist. Only 3 stars symbolised luxury, quality and style.

MANUFACTURING

HALL OF FAME

Despite the pitch invasion and combative competition from the major brands, the testimonials of loyalty to the brand from players such as Johan Cruyff, Jürgen Klinsmann, Roberto Mancini and Paolo Di Canio remained precious.
