Cristiano Ronaldo was presented in front of a near-capacity crowd at the Bernabeu by Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, Honorary President Alfredo di Stefano and guest of honour and legendary Portuguese player Eusebio.

Ahead of the footballing icon's entrance, a spectacular video montage of Ronaldo's best plays and goals was shown, followed by another paying tribute to great Madridistas of recent times like Beckham, Raul, Casillas, Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Guti, Robinho.

Cristiano Ronaldo told the excited crowd:

"I am very happy about being here. This is a dream come true; as a child I dreamt of playing for Real Madrid. I didn't expect the stadium to be packed. This is unbelievable. Thank you all. Hala Madrid!"

Nike and Real Madrid had been keeping Cristiano Ronaldo's squad number under wraps. But at the official presentation it was revealed Ronaldo will wear the number ‘9’ shirt, formerly worn by players of the likes of Alfredo di Stefano, Santillana and Hugo Sanchez, and recently vacated by Saviola.

The number is steeped in history, and all Real Madrid fans around the world will be hoping Cristiano Ronaldo can write his own chapter in successes of Real Madrid!
